About AnimBetween
AnimBetween is a curated home for indie animation.
Some of the most inventive animation being made today never reaches a streaming service. It often lives on YouTube, spread across hundreds of channels, with whole series scattered between uploads, shorts and announcements, and buried under millions of other non-animation videos. AnimBetween gathers it in one place, organized the way it deserves to be watched, and hopefully grows into a community of people who love it.
Who is behind it
"We" is really an "I" for now. I'm a solo developer, and I built AnimBetween because I wanted an easier way to find and watch independent animation.
The name
Say it out loud and it sounds like "an in-between". In animation, the in-betweens are the frames drawn between the key poses, the quiet work that makes everything move. It is also where this work sits: between the cracks of the mainstream, made by independent studios, small teams and single animators.
How it works
- Curated, not collected. Titles are picked for the catalog, not pulled in wholesale from YouTube. Trailers, merch drops and reaction videos stay out, so what you see is the animation itself.
- Series play in order. Open a show and it starts at the pilot, carries you from one episode to the next, and remembers where you stopped.
- The creators keep everything. Every video plays from the creator's official upload through YouTube's own player. Every view, ad and new subscriber counts for them. AnimBetween never downloads or re-hosts anyone's work.
- No account needed. Your place in each series and your settings stay in your own browser. AnimBetween runs no ads of its own and does not track you. The privacy policy has the details.
What is coming
AnimBetween is an early build. The catalog grows every day, and these are the next steps:
- Browse and discovery. Ways to explore the whole catalog by style, genre and mood, and to find your next show based on what you already like.
- Suggest a title. A way to send in a link to a series or short you think belongs here, whether you made it or just love it.
- A community around it. A place for people who love indie animation to share what they are watching, pass on their finds, and talk about new episodes as they drop, starting with a Discord server.
- Optional accounts. Sign in with Google, Discord or your email so your progress follows you between devices, and keep a list of the shows you love.
- Your own room. A personal space that shows what you love and what you have watched, in animation and beyond, that you can share with friends and compare with theirs.
- Tools for creators. A way for creators to verify their channel and control how their work appears here.
Further out, the goal is for AnimBetween to give back to independent animation directly: hosting premieres with creators' permission, and one day helping to fund new work.
